The St. Paul Lady Flyer volleyball team took on three games last week, coming out on top in two, and losing just one. The Flyers played against Monroeville on Tuesday, Findlay on Wednesday, and the Crestview Cougars on Thursday. Not to mention, the weekend before, the went to the Convoy Crestview Tournament where they played three matches (nine games), placing second in the whole tournament. Though the week was long, it only helped the girls to improve and get ready for whats to come...post season!
On Friday September 6th, 2013 the volleyball team shut down the Monroeville eagles in three. Most people know the eagles as our big rivals, so to win in three was a big deal for the girls. As many of the girls said going into the game, they were going to play their heart out not only for themselves, but for their assistant coach who is battling breast cancer. The girls succeeded, the first game was cut a little close, but that just made the win more intense. There were many outstanding players, but they all worked together to bring a win to the table. The gym was loud and the fans were crazy, but the support from everyone always seems to help. They improved throughout the night and ended it with the first game 25-23, second game 25-17, and the third game 25-18. We are proud of the girls and can not wait to see them compete again. St. Paul sports are insane. The football team is predicted by Fandy to win it all and when I mean it all I mean STATE. Football has a pretty tough schedule this year which includes Tiffin Calvert, Huron, Western Reserve and their biggest rival and most trash talk week is the last regular season game every year and that is Monroeville Eagles. This year's volleyball team is also supposed to be one of the best in their division. Their games will be just as tough as the football teams with games against Monroeville and Findlay and the Convoy Crestview Tournament. But you can't forget about our cross country and golf teams who also are competitive. Our golf team will be competing as one of the best teams in Division 4 and our cross country team will be running their butts off all over, from the John Speer Invite to the most rugged track around in Plymouth. |
