On Wednesday, the senior class was able to attend a college kickoff meeting in the gathering space. Mrs. Smith arranged for representatives from six different colleges to be there and sit on a panel for questioning. There were representatives from Ashland University, The University of Toledo, Heidelberg University, Cleveland State University, The University of Akron, and BGSU Firelands. Mrs. Smith made every senior a college folder with many different, useful resources in them.
For the first twenty minutes of the meeting Mrs. Smith informed the seniors of all the information she provided in the folders. The next part of the meeting consisted of the college representative panel answering the senior parent’s questions. There were questions varying from financial aid, ACT scores, tutoring, cost, and majors. All the panel members had a variety of useful information and answers for all the parents and the students themselves. After the panel questions, each representative had a table set up with information for each of their colleges. The students and parents were able to talk with each representative and get college visit dates and tuition prices for each college they were interested in.
Overall, many of the seniors and parents received useful information from the meeting. It was a success.
